On entering my holiday cottage you step into the slate hallway then through another door to the wooden floored lounge. An open area with a stove to curl up to after an active day, or take advantage of the 42" Plasma TV or choose from a selection of films.
An archway links the lounge to the kitchen-diner and patio with a separate verandah accessed from the French windows. The kitchen is equipped with all the utilities you require including a cooker, microwave, slow cooker, fridge/freezer and washing machine. Upstairs, which sleeps 4, comprises of a master bedroom, a second bedroom and bathroom. The master bedroom is front facing with a king size, five foot double bed. The second room has three foot, adult quality twin beds and looks out over the rolling hills down towards the estuary. The bathroom has a large separate shower and a separate full size luxurious corner bath.
Outside is a balcony area with a table and two chairs andextensive views towards the Camel Trail plus glimpses of the estuary. Down steps leads to a table and four chairs and a brick barbecue, which you are welcome to use. There is a bench in a garden with flowers, shrubs and herbs. Or just sit and take in the tranquillity.
Next to the house in a block is off-road parking and a garage.
The Camel estuary and Padstow in particular is popular with locals and holiday-makers alike. This stems from its incredible natural beauty. The Camel Trail can be walked or cycled (cycles for hire). The Estuary is a haunt of sailors so in addition to fishing boats, yachts often moor in the Inner Harbour. Surrounding the harbour are, shops and restaurants including Rick Stein's famous fish restaurant. He also has a fish and chip shop, the Bistro Restaurant and a Pub at St Merryn. Padstow was an important boat building and trading port for hundreds of years.
Slate roofed houses crowd narrow streets leading to the harbour.
On the 1st of May the town celebrates the coming of Spring with the "Obby Oss". Padstow is decorated with the first greenery of the year, bluebells and hazel twigs, and the "Oss" processes with dancers, singers, and musicians, celebrating Spring. The dance's origins are believed to be pagan dating back some four thousand years, when the ancient British people had a settlement near the harbour mouth at Padstow. It is one of the oldest remaining customs in England.
Through the long centuries, of course, the May Day celebrations have changed adding other traditions around the central figure the “Obby Oss”, of which there are now three, a blue and yellow representing different “Padstonians” and the children’s “Oss”. The celebrations last all day terminating with the “Osses” and others dancing around the Maypole. PLEASE NOTE IT IS HELD ON 1st MAY, NOT MAY DAY.

Out of Season
Polzeath Beach, New Years Day
A holiday taken out of season where the weather is mild and the light clear with definitely no crowds is a wonderful experience. Surfing is now an all year round activity with the sea being quite warm until after Christmas but winter weight wet suits are definitely needed from January.
Padstow is a good all year round destination. Up to the end of spring each year we have a Saver Rate that includes gas and electricity. Short Breaks are available for half the weekly rate Friday to Sunday or Monday to Thursday. Other combinations possible by arrangement. This excludes Christmas and New Year which are High Season.
We welcome dogs at all times (in secure back garden) and winter has the added benefit that they can also enjoy the beaches without dog restrictions.
There is a cosy stove to come home to.
